Description

When we started on this journey, we set out to create a traditional briefcase that we could take with us on our everyday journeys. Something durable and dependable that could stand up to the rigours of a everyday work life and look good whilst doing it.   

At Ashley Clarke England, we hold ourselves to the highest standards; we don’t settle for second best.

Our materials are carefully sourced from some of Britain’s oldest and most respected manufacturers. 

The canvas briefcase is constructed from 18oz rugged twill that has been sourced from one of the oldest fabric mills in the United Kingdom. Established in 1864, Halley Stevenson are the world’s leading manufacturer in waxed cotton and weatherproofed fabrics. Rugged twill is dry waxed and densely woven, making it abrasion-resistant, rain-resistant, tough, and easy to maintain.   

We use hand-finished bridle leather from the world-famous J&E Sedgwick leather tannery in Walsall, England. Traditionally, bridle leather was created for the manufacture of horse tack due to its ability to withstand extreme weather conditions, dirt, and the challenges of being outdoors. These superior qualities make it an ideal leather for the straps and handles of our briefcase work bags.

Our fittings and hardware are made from solid brass, sourced from Abbey England, who’s Walsall foundry dates back to 1832, and who supply saddlery workshop material under Royal Warrant to King Charles III.  Brass is extremely durable and is resistant to corrosion, rust, and tarnishing, making it the perfect choice for our heritage bags. 

All of our briefcases are handcrafted with meticulous attention to detail and are made to order.  In a time of fast fashion, where the market is flooded with poor quality products, we aim to stand out from the crowd. We create items that are designed to stand the test of time.
