Product care
Product care
I make my products to stand the test of time. This weekender is crafted from a durable, natural leather which will only look better with age.
However, you can give your weekender some extra TLC by:
- Wiping any dirt from the surface of the leather with a damp cloth.
- Buffing out small scruffs or scratches from wear using a cotton cloth. This brings the natural oils to the surface of the leather.
- Feeding the leather with Original Sedgwick Leathercare to protect and replenish the natural oils in the hide. Please note that this product will slightly darken the colour of the leather permanently.

Each leather weekender is handmade to order in my workshop, using traditional techniques. It takes three weeks to craft a weekender, from the point of order to shipping.

A new design in the Ashley Clarke England range, this heritage-inspired weekender launches as part of the Heritage collection. I will be producing only three in this leather. At no additional cost, personalise your bag by selecting your preferred shoulder strap length.
Created with my world-renowned attention to detail. The Heritage weekender is unlined, with fully leather-bound seams, hand dyed edges and logo embossed details. The sturdy bridle leather base is reminiscent of a falconry lure, a nod to the beginnings of my leatherworking journey.
Simplicity is key to the weekender’s functionality. Internally there are no fiddly compartments, just plenty of space to throw all of your weekend essentials in and go. Smaller items and valuables can be tucked into the roomy internal pocket or secured to the accessory tab eyelets.
The Heritage weekender is designed with durability in mind, a classic style fashioned from the toughest materials. This heavy-duty bag makes an ideal travel companion whether it’s a city break in Edinburgh or an all-action shooting weekend.
Designed, cut and sewn by hand in my Lincolnshire workshop using traditional techniques.
Handmade from premium materials
I source my leathers from time-honoured tanneries around the globe. This "Moorland" leather, is from Pittards tannery in Yeovil, which was established in 1826.
Rugged and natural, I like my leathers to tell a story. This one is full grain, so you can see the animal’s history, such as scars from insect bites. And it’s full of character due to the slight pull-up effect. This quality creates a unique patina as I craft the leather, making your weekender one-of-a-kind.
The weekender handles, strap and fine details are crafted from bridle leather, produced by J & E Sedgwick.
Traditionally, Sedgwick’s supplied leather to the equestrian trade. Their bridle leather is strong, hard-wearing and undoubtedly the best in Britain.
I’ve finished the Heritage weekender with solid brass hardware, produced by Abbey England, a traditional brass foundry which dates back to 1832.
Designed to stand the test of time
I like a sturdy leather that will support itself. I look for something that’s solid and that’s going to become more characterful with age, so I’ve selected a suitably tough hide for this weekender.
My material choices are influenced by my love of the outdoors. I need my products to both look good and to endure the unpredictable British weather. I should be able to throw my bag in the back of a Land Rover for a day shooting and it should look all the better for the adventure.
When I handpick materials, it’s always a balance between aesthetics and longevity. Hides that improve with a few scuffs and scratches, elegant, rust-resistant brass details, bridle leather designed to survive a horse rolling around in the mud.
With every day use, your weekender will take on its own character and I encourage you to embrace that. It’s all part of your journey.
Made in England
Each weekender is made from start to finish in my workshop in Grantham, England. I design my patterns using an age-old method, drawn by hand with pencil and pattern card, and cut with a scalpel.
I physically mock up each new design in leather, there’s no use of CAD in this process, everything is done by hand.
My cutting knives are made bespoke for each product that I produce. Workshop visitors are often surprised that some of these knives look a bit like pastry cutters.
Every weekender is sewn using my trusty sewing machines and finished with my own two hands, whether that’s hand dying an edging detail or constructing a zip fastening. This is how leather has been worked for centuries.
I make limited ranges of premium leather goods, using trustworthy, traditional techniques.
