Product care

I make my products to stand the test of time. This belt is crafted from a durable, natural leather which will only look better with age.

However, you can give your belt some extra TLC by:

  • Wiping any dirt from the surface of the leather with a damp cloth.
  • Buffing out small scruffs or scratches from wear using a cotton cloth. This brings the natural oils to the surface of the leather.
  • Feeding the leather with Original Sedgwick Leathercare to protect and replenish the natural oils in the hide. Please note that this product will slightly darken the colour of the leather.

Made to order

Each leather belt is handmade to order in my workshop, using traditional techniques. It takes one week to craft a belt, from the point of order to shipping.

More information

A classic leather belt, made bespoke to your measurements for unrivalled fit and functionality. Customise yours by selecting your ideal leather shade and buckle material. This no-nonsense and timeless design is bound to become your go-to for years to come.

Crafted from world-renowned J & E Sedgwick bridle leather, the Pioneer belt features hand bevelled and burnished edges, and a logo embossed sturdy belt keep. Made to measure, each belt has seven adjustment holes, spaced one inch apart – you won’t find a fit better than this.

The Pioneer belt is designed with adventure in mind, it’s exceptionally hard-wearing so sling it on to explore the outdoors. True to my design DNA, the belt is also effortlessly smart, to add that finishing touch to your office wear through the week.

Designed, cut and sewn by hand in my Lincolnshire workshop using traditional leatherworking techniques.

How to measure for your bespoke belt

  1. Whilst wearing your favoured trousers or jeans, put on the belt you are looking to replace.
  2. Fasten your belt so that it fits comfortably and make a note of the hole that you’ve put the buckle tongue through.
  3. Remove your belt and lay it flat so that you can take a measurement.
  4. Measure from the hole identified in step two, to the point where the leather is folded back through the buckle. This measurement is the size that you should order. It will most likely be larger than your usual trouser size but don’t let that throw you, I assure you this is your perfect belt measurement.

Crafted from the finest materials

Bridle leather is the obvious choice for the Pioneer belt. I source mine from J & E Sedgwick, the best in the business. The tannery is based in Walsall, West Midlands, and is world-famous for its hand finished, superior quality leather.

The belt buckles are produced by Abbey England, which is family-owned and which dates back to 1832. Abbey England supplies saddlery materials to the royal family and is the only traditional foundry left in Britain.

Designed to last a lifetime

As the name suggests, bridle leather was traditionally used to craft horse bridles because of its heavy-duty and hard-wearing qualities. A horse rider’s life depends on the quality of their tack so if Sedgwick’s is good enough for them, it’s good enough for Ashley Clarke England products.

My designs marry functionality with classic, heritage-inspired style to produce pieces that stand the test of time and will look better and better with wear.

As it accompanies you through life, your belt may get scuffed or scratched. This will add to the unique character of your piece and I encourage you to embrace this. One day, another generation of your family, may inherit this belt and those signs of your story.

Made in England

Each belt is made from start to finish in my workshop in Grantham, England. I design my patterns using an age-old method, drawn by hand with pencil and pattern card, and cut with a scalpel.

I physically mock up each new design in leather, there’s no use of CAD in this process, everything is done by hand.

My cutting knives are made bespoke for each product that I produce. Workshop visitors are often surprised that some of these knives look a bit like pastry cutters.

Every belt is sewn using my trusty sewing machines and finished with my own two hands, whether that’s hand bevelling an edging or embossing a signature detail. This is how leather has been worked for centuries.

I make limited ranges of premium leather goods, using trustworthy, traditional techniques.
