Product care

I make my products to stand the test of time. This weekender is crafted from a durable, natural leather which will only look better with age.

However, you can give your weekender some extra TLC by:

  • Wiping any dirt from the surface of the leather with a damp cloth.
  • Buffing out small scruffs or scratches from wear using a cotton cloth. This brings the natural oils to the surface of the leather.
  • Feeding the leather with Original Sedgwick Leathercare to protect and replenish the natural oils in the hide. Please note that this product will slightly darken the colour of the leather permanently.

Made to order

Each leather weekender is handmade to order in my workshop, using traditional techniques. It takes three weeks to craft a weekender, from the point of order to shipping.

More information

The Heritage Weekender - designed for those who appreciate timeless craftsmanship and rugged durability. A very limited number will be crafted in this exclusive leather: Charles F. Stead Waxy Commander. For a personal touch, choose your preferred shoulder strap length at no extra cost.

Constructed with meticulous attention to detail, the Heritage Weekender is handmade in England. It features fully leather-bound seams, hand-dyed edges, and embossed logo details. A nod to my leatherworking roots, the sturdy bridle leather base draws inspiration from a falconry lure.

Functionality is at the heart of this design. With a spacious main compartment, this bag eliminates unnecessary dividers, making it easy to pack for a weekend away. Smaller essentials can be stored in the roomy internal pocket or secured to the accessory tab eyelets.

Built to last, the Heritage Weekender is made from tough, hard-wearing materials, ensuring it can handle anything from a city escape to an outdoor adventure.

Every bag is designed, hand-cut, and sewn in my Lincolnshire workshop using traditional leatherworking techniques. This is a bag built for those who demand the very best in British handmade leather goods.

Handmade from premium materials

I source my leathers from time-honoured tanneries around the world. This "Waxy Commander" leather comes from the renowned Charles F. Stead tannery in Leeds.

I like my leathers to tell a story. This leather is a heavy waxed suede, typically used in the manufacture of boots. During its unique tanning process, the hides are shrunk, which tightens the fibers and strengthens the leather.

With its heavy waxed finish and tight grain structure, this leather is fully waterproof. With these properties, your bag is set for adventure. It promises to develop an unrivalled patina straight out of the box.

The weekender handles, strap, and fine details are crafted from bridle leather, produced by J & E Sedgwick.

Traditionally, Sedgwick supplied leather to the equestrian trade. Their bridle leather is strong, hard-wearing and undoubtedly the best in Britain.

I’ve finished the Heritage weekender with solid brass hardware, produced by Abbey England, a traditional brass foundry which dates back to 1832.

Designed to stand the test of time

I like a sturdy leather that will support itself. I look for something that’s solid and that’s going to become more characterful with age, so I’ve selected a really tough leather for this weekender.

My material choices are influenced by my love of the outdoors. I need my products to both look good and to endure the unpredictable British weather. I should be able to throw my bag in the back of a Land Rover for a day shooting and it should look all the better for the adventure.

When I handpick materials, I have aesthetics and longevity in mind - hides that improve with a few scuffs and scratches, elegant, rust-resistant brass hardware, and bridle leather tough enough to survive a horse rolling around in the mud.

With every day use, your weekender will take on its own character and I encourage you to embrace that. It’s all part of your journey.

Made in England

Each weekender is crafted from start to finish in my workshop in Grantham, England.

I design my patterns using an age-old method, drawn by hand with pencil and pattern card, and cut with a scalpel—there’s no use of CAD here, everything is done by hand. I physically mock up each new design in leather, ensuring everything fits correctly and works as intended.

My cutting knives are bespoke, made specifically for each product I create.

Every weekender is sewn using my trusty sewing machines and finished with my own two hands, whether that’s hand-dying an edging detail or constructing a zip fastening.

I make limited ranges of premium leather goods, using trustworthy, traditional techniques that ensure both quality and longevity.
